Hi! Everyone and Happy New Year! Wow! has it really been 6 months since I've updated my journal? Thanks to everyone who has signed my guestbook. I should be adding more pictures from festivals this summer very soon. Many thanks to the Dulcimer Society of Northern Illinois. I taught and performed for their club back in early November. What an awesome time. Thanks for all the wonderful comments on my workshop. Double thanks to Janet and Walter Swartz for their hospitality during our stay in Chicago. Walter makes killer waffles! Janet worked so hard to make the event go so well. Visiting their club was definitely a highlight of my year. I would also like to thank Carol Meyer for inviting me to play for the IAAP organization on December 13th. I performed and then gave a talk on the two dulcimers. It was really a great time and so rewarding. Thanks, Carol.

That's about all for now. I'll be posting my schedule for 2006 shortly so, keep checking back. I promise to keep up my journal and photo gallery if you keep coming back to visit me. I appreciate all your input.

I've had awesome time at all the festivals this past month. My favorite one was this past weekend at the Dulci-more festival in Lisbon. I was a workshop presenter and performer. Both my workshops went really well and the mini-concert was a blast. Ray Brooks and I were even interviewed for a radio show.

One thing topped off my entire weekend. I was able to meet Guy George's wife Sharrie and his daughter Samantha for the first time. I met his other daughter Nina last year. What a cool family.

Another cool thing was being asked to play egg shakers for Guy George's concert and also for Jim Miller's concert. Now I can say I have performed with TWO dulcimer stars!

I'll be posting pictures of the festivals very soon so, keep checking back.

One more thing........

My hat is off to Sharon Gartley. She is the master-mind behind this website. Fantastic job,  Sharon!

ODE To Teachers

A lot of us can remember the stern, piano teacher who hit us across the knuckles when we were younger. We became discouraged and decided to give up music, thinking that music thing was for someone else. Though our music lessons were probably not as bad as we remember (maybe we don't want to remember), maybe if we'd had a fun, exciting teacher everything could have been different. How many times have you heard someone say, "I flunked that class because of my teacher." It's true that teachers play a big role in our musical progress. They can make or break us. So, this is a tribute to my two fantastic music teachers! Namely, Katie Jones, my flute teacher and Mark Wade, my hammer dulcimer teacher. Both of them have inspired me and encouraged me to achieve my full potential. How they put up with me every week, I don't know. My hat is off to you. Thanks Mark and Katie!

HI! Everyone, What's up? Lesley

Hi! Everyone, Yesterday was my first day car shopping with my dad. It was pretty cool. It was kind of cold out so we didn't look for long. So, I still haven't found my dream car. Last night I was also able to see Sir James Galway in concert in Bowling Green. For all of you who don't know him, he is a world renowned flutist for Ireland. On the way to the concert, we were already going to be late and we were stopped by the police. Not to fear anyone. I wasn't driving and we only had a headlight out. Musically yours, Lesley
